At Joyful Treats, we respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies when you use our website, order through WhatsApp, phone or email, visit our store, or follow us on social media.

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Joyful Treats, trading as Joyful Cakes, holder of Dubai located at Joyful Treats, P04, Lake Level, Cluster Q - Al Thanyah Fifth - Jumeirah Lakes Towers Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We are the controller of your personal data.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

Contact details: name, phone number, email address
Delivery details: delivery address, building or villa details, access instructions, recipient name and phone number
Order details: items ordered, flavours, sizes, cake messages, design preferences, reference images, event dates, invitations and budget
Dietary and allergy information: anything you tell us so we can prepare your order safely (this may be health-related information, which we treat with extra care)
Account details: if you create an account, your login details and order history
Communications: messages you send us by WhatsApp, phone, email, Instagram or our contact page, and any feedback or reviews
Marketing sign-ups: your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter or claim a discount code

Payment information

Online payments are processed by our secure third-party payment gateway. We do not see or store your full card number or security code. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the payment method and the last four digits of your card. If you pay by bank transfer, we keep a record of the transfer details to match your order.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and our service providers may collect your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, approximate location, and the date and time of your visit, using cookies and similar technologies (see section 6).

it is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as running and securing our website, provided these do not override your rights.

4. Who We Share Your Information With

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed with:

Our e-commerce platform: Shopify, which hosts our online store and stores order data.
Payment providers: our payment gateway, Apple Pay, Visa and Mastercard processors, and our bank.
Delivery partners: our drivers or third-party courier services, who receive your name, phone number and address to deliver your order.
Communication tools: WhatsApp (Meta), email providers and our newsletter service, used to communicate with you.
Analytics and advertising providers: such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Others, to understand website use and measure marketing (only if you use these).
Professional advisers and authorities: accountants, lawyers, auditors, and government or regulatory bodies where required by law.

All service providers are required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we have given them.

5. International Transfers

Some of our service providers, including Shopify and other online tools, may process or store data outside the UAE. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data stays protected in line with applicable UAE law.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to:

keep items in your cart and remember your preferences (essential cookies);
understand how visitors use our site (analytics cookies); and
show relevant offers and measure our advertising (marketing cookies), if enabled.

You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the website, such as the cart and checkout, from working properly.

7. Marketing Communications

If you subscribe to our newsletter or claim an offer, we may send you promotions, news and discount codes. You can unsubscribe at any time by using the link in our emails, replying “STOP” to our messages, or contacting us at admin@joyfulcakes.ae. Unsubscribing does not affect service messages about your orders.

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy. In general:

Order and payment records: for the period required by UAE tax and accounting law [typically at least 5 years — confirm with your accountant];
Marketing details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them;
Messages and enquiries: for as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up.

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including secure payment processing, restricted access to customer information, and secure website hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

10. Your Rights

Subject to UAE law, you may have the right to:

ask what personal data we hold about you and request a copy;
ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
ask us to delete your data or restrict how we use it, where applicable;
object to certain uses of your data, including direct marketing;
withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful use; and
complain to the relevant data protection authority in the UAE.

To exercise any of these rights, email admin@joyfulcakes.ae. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable time. Some data we must keep to meet legal obligations, so we may not always be able to delete everything.

11. Children’s Privacy

Our website is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Orders for children’s cakes should be placed by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Photos and Social Media

We may photograph or film our products, and share them on our website and social media (such as Instagram @joyfulcakesdubai). We will not publish photos showing identifiable people, or your personal details, without your consent. If you tag us or leave a public review, we may share or respond to it. Social platforms have their own privacy policies, which apply to your use of them.

13. Links to Other Websites

Our website may link to third-party sites such as Instagram, WhatsApp or Google. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on our website with a new “Last updated” date. Please check it periodically.
